Day 9 of Homeschooling

Welp, all the people that said homeschooling is hard and wonderful at the same time were right!!! We are on day 9 and so far these are the pro's and con's I've seen:

Pro's
1. School is on MY schedule!! If we wake up late one morning, it doesn't mean we're running late for school! We just start whenever we meander up to the 'school area'.
2. It only takes a couple hours on most days.
3. It's wonderful to actually get to SEE Ty learn something! He gets so excited and just to see his eyes light up and be proud of himself is so worth it.
4. Our curriculum thus far is perfect for me. The K12 curriculum we use is so easy! It literally takes you step by step on what you should say/do. I will be the first one to tell you I'm not a teacher by any stretch, but I can do this!

Cons....
I think the biggest and maybe only one I've seen thus far is patience(or lack thereof). It is so hard to be patient with Ty when he's running all over, laying on the floor, not focusing etc. Those are the moments I have to take a step back and ask myself if we need to take a break. (I'm a 'once we start, I don't want to stop til we're done kinda girl', but I'm finding that Ty(and most 5 year olds I know) don't operate like that). I know it's all part of God's plan to work on my patience ;-) it's working!!!!

Besides homeschool.....

I've been training again with my awesome personal trainer, Lenette. I'm so excited to get back in the swing of things. I always feel so much better when I'm working out/exercising/training. The eating part is slowwwwllllyyyy getting back in order too ;-)

Rylan had her 6 month checkup this week and I'm proud to announce she is actually in the 50th percentile now for height(she was the 5th!) and 10th percentile for weight(that also use to be the 5th). Dr. Ryan said she's growing and healthy so we're so thankful to God!!!

I've written about everyone else so I better include Tom in this post since this is the "tomkellyty(still gotta add Rylan) blog ;-)

Tom is doing well. He's been the BEST helper with Rylan while I teach Ty!!! I honestly don't know how I would do it if he wasn't helping. So thankful for all the hard work he does. This homeschooling thing (and my stress level lol) can make me one cranky Momma, but he's a trooper :-)

A New Beginning

Wow. Where to begin. Well, since my last post in 2010 lots of things have happened. One being our daughter Rylan! She is now 6 months old. Hard to believe! Guess I need to change my blog website title to tomkellytyrylan.blogspot.com :-) Here are our most recent pictures:

Most recent news: Ty started Kindergarten today! Guess who his teacher is? ME!!!! Can you believe it? I know, it's crazy. I'm so not a teacher, but after much thought and deliberation Tom and I decided to at least give homeschooling a shot. We survived today! He loved it. I felt so overwhelmed to be honest though. But it was so worth it to SEE him learn and enjoy it! After 5 hours of school he took a nap and when he woke up the first thing he said was, " Can we do more school?" So happy to hear! Let's just pray his enthusiasm continues.

I know, I know! It's been awhile since I've made a post lol. I honestly have tried, but it wouldn't download pictures so I couldn't post! I've heard that you shouldn't make a post unless you include pictures ;)

So without further addue(sp?) here are the pictures from Ty's 2nd, 3rd birthday party :) We had to reschedule the first one due to snow, but thanks to everyone who showed up for the 2nd one! Ty was so happy to have all his friends and Mommy and Daddy were super excited that Ty was happy :)

GIRLS NIGHT JAN 2010

I absolutely am so sad that I didn't get a picture of all us girls this night! We had a kind of impromptu girls night b/c our friends Sheila and Shahla are getting ready to move to Maryland. We realized that we had not seen them in a YEAR!!! It was such a fun time to just reminisce and relax and let our babies play. LOVE ALL THESE GIRLS WITH ALL MY HEART AND SOUL!!!!
